Instrument valves have the following applications:
(1) Connecting or disconnecting the medium in a pipeline. Examples include gate valves, globe valves, ball valves, plug valves, diaphragm valves, and butterfly valves.
(2) Regulating and controlling the flow rate and pressure of the medium in a pipeline. Examples include throttle valves, regulating valves, pressure reducing valves, and safety valves.
(3) Changing the direction of medium flow in a pipeline. Examples include distribution valves, three-way plug valves, and three-way or four-way ball valves.
(4) Preventing backflow of the medium in a pipeline. Examples include various types of check valves and foot valves.
(5) Separating the medium. Examples include various types of steam traps and air traps.
(6) Indicating and adjusting liquid level. Examples include liquid level indicators and liquid level regulators.
(7) Other special applications. Examples include temperature control valves and overcurrent protection emergency shut-off valves.
