Ball Valve Maintenance

Leave a message

Regular Inspection: Inspect the ball valve's appearance and sealing performance every 3-6 months to ensure no leaks or corrosion. For high-pressure or high-temperature environments, the inspection frequency should be higher.

Cleaning and Lubrication: Regularly clean the inside and outside of the ball valve to remove impurities and dirt. For manually operated ball valves, the valve stem and sealing surfaces should be lubricated with a special lubricant (such as silicone-based grease), recommended every 6 months.

Sealing Test: Conduct a sealing test annually using pressure testing equipment to check the valve's sealing performance at rated pressure. If leakage is found, replace the sealing ring or valve seat promptly.

Operating Precautions: Avoid excessive force when operating ball valves, especially manually operated valves. Turn slowly when opening and closing, ensuring the valve is fully open or closed to avoid damage from media erosion caused by partial opening.

Corrosion Prevention: For ball valves exposed to humid or corrosive environments, regularly apply rust inhibitors or use anti-corrosion coatings. Although stainless steel ball valves are corrosion-resistant, they still require regular inspection.

Storage and Maintenance During Downtime: If the ball valve is to be out of service for an extended period, thoroughly clean and dry the interior, apply rust-preventive oil, and seal the inlet and outlet to prevent dust and moisture from entering.

Replacing Wearing Parts: The valve stem, sealing ring, and ball are wear parts and should be replaced periodically depending on usage. It is recommended to inspect them every 2-3 years and replace them immediately if severe wear is observed.

Professional Maintenance: For ball valves used with high pressure or special media (such as steam), it is recommended that maintenance be performed by professional technicians to ensure compliance with industry standards (such as national standard GB/T 12237).
